Membership Categories

members1Membership is open to any person with an interest in the teaching and research of German Studies at university level. Membership is not limited to any geographical area. The membership categories are listed below, all with the same voting and participation rights. You can pay in Euros at the equivalent rates.

Individuals must be members of the AGS for at least 3 months before applying for publication scholarships or similar awards of subsidy.

Ordinary Membership: 

Member in a full-time, open-ended post: £40 / €48 annually.

Part-Time and Early-Career Membership:

Member in a part-time or early-career post (below Grade 7 or equivalent): £25 / €30 annually.

Postgraduate Membership:

£20 / €24 single subscription, valid for duration of postgraduate registration.

Postgraduates must be members of the AGS for at least 3 months before applying for any postgraduate scholarships.

Membership for Colleagues Not in Post / Casual Employment: 

Member not currently in post/in only casual employment: £10 / €12 annually.

Retired Membership:

Retired members of the AGS may pay an annual fee of £25 / €30.

Honorary Fellow of the AGS:

An individual may become an Honorary Fellow of the AGS by invitation. This title will normally be accorded to the President’s Guest at annual conferences.
